Moving on...
Country girl looking for a place to live!!! Need a place to live where my 7 year old son and I can be safe! May sound funny to you but I have mostly lived in the country, lived in a town of about 500 for 5 years and in Sedalia for about 3 (wasnt to crazy about that) Just finishing up nursing school, I know there are losts of jobs in the city.... but I am NOT a city person! " My ideal place"... the type most people want to leave, would be a small town with the court yard square, the older folks meeting at a local cafe to catch up on the small town gossip, a nice church, good school system, the kind of town that you can leave your keys in the car. A 30 minute commute to a nice hospital for work. NOT K.C. area or ST. LOUIS!! I might be asking for the impossible.... any suggestions ????? Thanks!!!!

Look down here...
Springfield has a wonderful medical community and if you don't mind driving a bit, you can find some country living within 15-20 minutes...also, where I live in Hollister we are very near Branson, which many people think would be a horrid place to actually live, but it's actually a lot of fun. The attitudes here are family-values, church-based, God and Country type of thing...and if you go to, say, Forsyth...it sounds like just the kind of town you're talking about. Clean air, lots of outdoor activities, lakes, rivers...and prices are still very reasonable.
Branson has a great small hospital, and they are always looking for more good help! I'd be glad to help you more if you like...call or write!
Oh, and by the way, we do occasionally leave the keys in the car...but you really shouldn't do that anywhere anymore. Days gone by. Sigh.

Try the Columbia area, nice Mid-Missouri location with several smaller towns to chose from.
South of KC Metro, Harrisonville, Adrian, Archie, and Butler. Also Kingsville, Appleton City, Holden and Clinton. Good Luck and do not leave your keys in the car....those days have come and gone.
Harrisonville has the Cass Medical Center and is about 30 mins from several medical centers in SKC/Lee's Summit. Golden Valley Hospital in Clinton.

May I suggest you try the Trenton or Chillicothe area? I grew up in Trenton and all my family still lives there.

Uhhh... that is TRENTON to a T! Although, the "type most people want to leave" actually is acurate for those that are getting out of high school, but you would be shocked at just how many of those same people leave Trenton for the BIG WORLD and how many of them end-up back there, raising their own families for the very same reason you are looking to move.... small-town, safe, good schools & churchs...sense of community... it is all right there!

Wright Memorial Hospital is in Trenton (it is a Saint Lukes hospital), or less than 30 minutes to Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe. Also, North Central Missouri College (in Trenton) has one of the best and fastest growing Allied Arts programs in the region!
From Trenton, you are 1 hour and a few minutes from St. Joseph or an hour and a half or so to Kansas City by car...but MILES AWAY in lifestyle!

I've been to a lot of County Seat towns with Courthouse Squares. Some of my favorites that would fit your criteria are Lexington, Richmond, Marshfield, Bolivar, West Plains, Neosho, and Monett (not a county seat).

Where do you call home?
I do understand what you mean by a country girl..............your roots grow in the dirt better there
I go into town and I feel myself ready to turn back around and go home.. I don't like traffic and I don't like dealing with rude in a hurry people!
Raising children some where safe ......... where people have moral values ..
is important to me as well......... thats why I am on this forum.
Well good luck you have picked a excellent career to keep your feet busy with!

Thanks for the replies! I live in Sedalia now, go to school in Marshall, graduate in July. Some say Im running away but I look at it as .... a new start! I dont know but Im pretty sure there is more to life than Sedalia and Otterville, yeah thats right Otter ville. I was thinkn about up north around Cameron - St. Joe area, not in town but in a small rural area driving distance to work. Would like to work at a childrens hospital or cancer hospital.... who knows? Just wondering whats out there..... never know if I dont try.

Neosho would definitely be the place for you. Peaceful safe town with good schools. It is about 20 to 25 minutes to large medical centers in Joplin. Also, Freeman Neosho Hospital is a nice small town Hospital that would be a great place to work, with no added commute time. There are the little cafes on the square and the small town feel. As a matter of fact, just tonight hundreds of folks came together in Neosho's Big Spring Park for the first in the Summer Series of "Cinema in the Park" events. This is where the community puts on a FREE movie in the park, it is awesome and a great time of fellowship. How is that for a great small town???

Anymore to tell me about Neosho? Sounding good! I find things online but its better coming from a real live person... if thats a dependable person. What about the crime rate? Are there many places to rent? Whats the average cost of rent? Like I said Ive been in Sedalia and Otterville....dont get around much.... so any extra help would be wonderfullllllllllllllll The "Cinema in the Park" sounded great. Whens the next one? May drive down, get a feel for the town and enjoy a FREE movie at the same time!!! Thanks
