I was just in Joplin a few days ago.....it was nice...but there are some parts of Joplin that are kind of run down. I like Carthage better. Carthage is a pretty town....boring, perhaps.....but it's a nice small town.

Im not a big carthage fan. It has more run down areas than Joplin. Of course its a lot smaller but I'm still not a big fan. No one over there really speaks english anymore. Its a very political little town.

I dont really care much for Carthage either. I agree also that Carthage has more run down areas, especially by the square. Some of the areas in Carthage are cool looking. I like the view heading north on 71 just south of Carthage. I was surprised to see the town look that nice.
This is just my opinion though.

Well, every small town in America has at least one person who's just a little too full of himself/herself.....as far as politics goes. Carthage is no different. And yeah, there are some run-down buildings in Carthage too. But Carthage is still a nice area (visually). And far as drugs (meth) and illegal aliens goes....there are many areas in Missouri that have one or both of those problems; Carthage is no different.

Illegal aliens and drub(meth).... I looked at the website in www.city-data.com for the race it is a little high not compare to california or North Carolina,Texas,Florida and etc.......but Joplin does have less illegal aliens. Is this ciy data correct or they don't have a clue?

I grew up and even graduated from high school there many years ago and I could'nt wait to leave town and moved to the west coast. Now that I'm retired I'm starting to miss the old town. It wasn't very progressive when I lived there but I stopped there for a overnight stay on a trip back east and
it seemed a little more modern. Maybe things have changed. I really do not
miss the high humidity in the summer but I do miss the nice lakes in the southern part of the state. I also miss being able to take a 5 hour run up to
St Louis or two hour ride to KCMO. I can't imagine that oklahoma is all that
much different than the Joplin but maybe it is. Move on to New Mexico if you
really want a change. It's almost like a different country there compared to
the midwest.
