Default Info about Fulton

We are retired and are moving to Missouri from California (seemingly along with zillions of other restless Californians). Probably to Columbia or Fulton area. Any info about Fulton would be appreciated. Local info, secret stuff, just plain general gossip. The good, the bad, the ugly, etc. We are not nutty liberals, but not hayseeds, either--just kind of dull normal folk. We are not family obsessed. Not really too obsessed about anything much. Where would be best for our kind?

Fulton. I just bought a house there in Feb '07. Town is small - 13,000 pop. or less. Town is starting to build up a little. New and used homes for sale cheap. Several small stores. Several banks. 1 hospital. 2 colleges. So on and so forth. You should take a "mini" vacation to see if you would be interested. Most of the buying process can be done over internet. That is what I did. I went 1 day and looked at several homes that day, made my decision and put my money down. I did have to appear in person for the closing. There are several motels/hotels to stay in while there.

Columbia. Crime zone. It is 1/2 way in between St. Louis and Kansas City. Do a research on it. gocolumbiamo.com. You should be able to find anything you need on there.

Local online newspaper for Fulton: fultonsun.com

P.S. I live in Fulton and work in Columbia. I moved away from that area.

GOOD LUCK.

We purchased three acres in Mountain Grove, Mo. South central, about an hour east of Springfield. Quiet town, but plenty of places for necessities, i.e., gas, groceries, even Walmart. I recommend the Ozarks due to milder Winters, quiet, friendly people. Lived in St. Louis as a kid; K.C. raised my sons. We live in Lake Isabella, CA now. Retirement 8 months away!!! Best of luck to you.
