Kimberling City was named after the Kimberling family, of course, but was originally named Radical. I love that!! Kimberling City, Missouri - kimberlingcity.com
My Dad lives near Uncertain, TX. The townspeople hadn't made up their minds on what to name the town, so they wrote uncertain on the form and mailed it in. The town became Uncertain, TX!! |

There is a road up out of Akers on the Current River that I have heard called the Devil's Elbow. The road snakes along a ridge with a big drop on both sides.

The above post reminded me of a road near Birch Tree, names Devil's Backbone. The road led back to Rymer's Ranch and down to Jack's Fork river where we would go swimming. There was this place where you crested a high hill to drive 200 feet or so to next hill. The road was only about 12 feet wide and you could look far down into the valley's on both sides, no shoulder visable. Took a steady driving hand and slow speed.
