Default Religion and Southern Missouri

If I'm someone that is not really religious at all... Not Christian and such. Would the Springfield / Branson area still be perfectly fine to live in? Would everyone be asking what church I go to and get offended if I say no church? Would I still feel relatively comfortable???

Thanks

We've been here for several months now and have yet to be bible thumped by anyone! I am not particularly religious but my wife and daughter like to go to church. If someone asks you I wouldn't see a problem in telling them you just moved here and are still looking around. More polite than telling them it's NOTB.

While most people here do attend church at least sometimes, I know a few who never do and it isn't an issue for them.

Well that sounds better... I've got no problem with everyone else and am respectful of whatever religion they so choose. I would just have a problem if people started buggin me about not going to church and not being a believer and all.

Thanks

Most likely it will depend on your job and the people you are in contact with most. People did try from time to time to get me to go, but usually if I was polite about how I made my excuse, they let it go. On the whole, it was rather infrequent, though I did find it annoying when it happened (lived in Springfield for about 8 yrs total).

I've lived here all my life and can count on one hand the amount of times I've been asked to attend a certain church or what religion I 'followed'. Even though we are considered the "bible belt", I think the area is opening up to the fact there are many denominations out there, including non. However, I think a lot of the smaller towns around here consider it a social status.
