BE FORWARNED. The economy in the Springfield/Branson area is not going to be what youre used to. Most people find it very tough to make a living in the Ozarks and that is assuming both parents are working full time. Being a student and a providor is tough stuff in these parts. The average wage for line ducks in any job is about $8.00 an hour and sadly that includes some medical professionals. Landing a GOOD job (not a $10.00 an hour one) takes many years of personal investement and finding/getting to know the right people who can get you in to that "upper tier" of employment opportunities that is exclusive to the ol boys network.

Don't worry about tornados. It is weather, and you are going to have SOMETHING to deal with. Hot, cold, windy, rainy;snow, sleet, rain, or lack thereof. If you are in the midwest, it is usually tornados, in the south it is hurricanes, in the west it is earthquakes, and the east is usually flooding. So pick your poison. In California, we don't sit around waiting for the next earthquake, when it comes, you deal with it. The same with tornados in Missouri. I have a friend from California that moved to Oregon and loves the cloudy dark rainy weather. I have another friend who grew up in Oregon and could not wait to move to California. One man's meat is another man's poison. Choose a place that works for your family and makes you happy to get up everyday.
