My husband and I would like to relocate to Missouri or Tennesse this Aug., where i desire to be closer to where majority of my family lives.(I was just reunited with my family after 25 years) My brother and his family lives in Carruthersville, MO- I also have family in Dyersburg, TN and in Arkansas. They all live in the country(i'm a city girl) but I don't know much about the city. I don't know too much about the south(i've lived in the midwest all my life) I heard Memphis has a lot of crime(its only 1 hr. from my brother).Are there any parts of Mphs that is a good safe and diverse, esp. to raise 2 teenage daughter? What about Nashville, any diverse neighborhoods? If not Mphs, what city would you recommend in TN or MO so that i'm close by family(with abundance of computer jobs, affordable housing- we want to buy a house, how's the housing market? can you buy an affordable house in a decent neighborhood? wha about great schools, good churches and diverse neighborhoods, activies for kids and places where you can enjoy the the beautiful parks- are there a lot of parks for recreation and picnicing(i've become spoiled coming from the twin cities w/ 10,000 lakes/parks- are there a lot of things to do for kids)? I have searched the net for answers but i can't seem to get answers so i can get good direction to where we we be moving in 6 months. I'm open to whoever knows about good safe neighborhoods in the Missouri or Tennessee the area in which we can raise our kids.
