it's not only the fighters that do this but also the fans, these are some examples

At one point fans were comparing Mike Tyson to the bum Kimbo Slice, people actually believed Kimbo Slice was the next big thing, it turns out he's just a bum from the streets

Joe Rogan compared Anderson Silva to Roy Jones and Floyd Mayweather and compared Chris Leben to Arturo Gatti

Andeson Silva has compared himself to Roy Jones several times already

BJ Penn likes to compare himself to Manny Pacquiao and says he's a big fan, I doubt Manny Pacquiao has ever heard of BJ Penn.

Why can't your guys be original? Why must they rely on pro boxing?

There are qualities in boxers that the MMA guys admire, what is wrong with that? Boxing is an amazingly technical, skillful artform but bottom line MMA guys are better fighters, any mid-level MMA guy would whup a great boxer in a fight. So it's a compliment that they compare to those they could defeat.

Well, we don't have to wait too long to see a boxer vs a mma fighter in Randy Couture vs James Toney. I think Couture will win this easily, at least I hope so.

i think Toney has a fighter's chance...but the odds are stacked highly against him.

if he wins, mma keeps moving along...while Randy may have to do some thinking.

more like mma pauses and rethinks where they are in the sport, it's still evolving, better fighters are needed, they must get better in the disciplines they are suppose to be good at, especially in boxing, too many 1 dimensional fighters in MMA that not only make it to the UFC but become champions, just like Brock Lesnar
