Royce is rumored to have gotten 1mil plus ppv buys and a catch weight out of dana when took on Hughes.

I think kimbo is fading into oblivion. Doing stupid cameos here and there on movies is about as far as his career is going to go.

Damn! Well Royce is where it all began! So maybe your right and this will be a special rules bout.

What about Renzo, Wandy Silva oR Belfort? Think those guys will be on the card? They might as well pack the card. How will they work out the PPV time? I guess they will just fight in the day over there.

So much for Kimbo then, even though if matched properly in MMA he could attract many.

Royce is the most over-hyped MMA fighter in history. Dude got fed a ton of crap fighters. These crap fighters were much bigger than him but they were still crappy.

Bas Rotten was around at the same time and was knocking out dudes with an open fist. Why no one bothers to talk about a true UFC champ is beyond me.

Bas is super respected amongst the MMA world. We are not currently speaking of him, but since you brought it up, Bas vs Royce would be another awesome PPV and MMA event, yet is Bas healthy these days? I believe he is messed up with many injuries.

Another thing on Bas is he made his name in Pancrase not the UFC so much. The everyday guy or even gal on the street seems to know who Royce is or still believes he's unbeaten.

Bas is an Icon though. I'm not knocking Bas at all. I met him once, very down to earth dude.

bas is awesome, one of the coolest guys around BUT he isnt fighting. he doesnt really train, doesnt really want to.
yes royce was handed cans with the exception of ken shamrock in the very early ufcs. ken was also fighting pancrase along with his brother and bas. he was not only fighting but he was doing well.

the gracies have always "embellished" their records and their opponents. i mean royce came in ufc 1 with a 50 something and 0 record? i mean does anyone believe that rickson gracie is 400-0? there was a lot of BS in the gracie in action videos, a lot of those "karate masters" and what not where 3rd world instructors. its funny, my wife is from guatemala, and we go there regularly, they have an official royce gracie network school there, the instructor is completely brainwashed by the gracies. he had a challenge match/grappling tournament as a purple belt against a supposed blackbelt master in something else, judo or something. the purple belt schooled the blackbelt but then who was the black belt? what did he really train? where did he train? where did he get his blackbelt? its all a joke.

guys like renzo, and rolls gracie before he died where the real deal, no BS records or BS opponents they took on anyone and if they lost they lost but rolls really didnt lose. rickson is regarded as the best gracie brother, why does he need a 400-0 record? he dodged saku so hard that the japanese made a lot of fun of him. i remember a youtube of a japanese guy sitting at a set of drums playing "rickson, rickson" for 2 minutes getting faster then ending with "gracie" then jumping up and only wearing what looks like a diaper. it was apparently and insult.

ok i had a few XX last night and am hung over so i am babbling.

Bas could fight a few more fights if he wanted. He said this on Joe Rogan's podcast a few months ago. He doesn't want to put his body in that much pain anymore. He was in severe pain while training the last few fights he had. Bas became UFC champ at the later stage of his career but he was still a beast. He's also the best MMA commentator ever. He really enjoys doing that so I would be highly surprised if he did fight again. I just don't think he gets anywhere near the respect he deserves and Royce gets way too much. If Joe Rogan stopped doing the UFC fights, Bas should take over...it would be awesome listening too him.

royce gets more respect because of the whole "gracies invented the ufc and royce was the man who won the 1st ones". i dont believe the gracies did anything more then put it out there for the mainstream, i think mma would still have come about just not as quickly. bas is only as famous as he is because of his personality and his commentating but not his fights.

Solution = bring out the beast.

Dan Severn still fights, that would be just like old times.

Remember when Lawlor did the Dan Severn tribute at the weigh-ins? That was freakin epic.
