So, how does everyone feel about Miesha Tate being the new champ?

I am sad Holly lost. I wanted to see her stay on top for a while, and defeat Rousey again in the rematch.

Miesha has worked and trained really hard at this sport and it showed last night. She was the better fighter and earned a solid victory. I like Holly and wanted to see her carry that title longer though. She is a great sportswoman and seems humble. I think she will be back.

Completely disagree. Holy won every round except the 2nd, was winning the 5th and "just got caught". Tate wasn't the better fighter that fight, she just had a small window to outshine holy and she capitalized.

Holy beats her 7 out of 10 fights or more.

Tate will not be champion long.

Tate fought very smart. Not as smart as she could have, but that's the opinion of an armchair analyst, so take it with a grain of salt. She wrapped Holly up 3 times: once she fought her off, once the round ended, and once she got the submission. But Holly was in rough shape that second round, so Tate knew exactly what to do to win....it's just that Holly knew what to avoid as well.

I agree that Tate probably loses to a rematch with Holm or Rousey, but it's not like she's a bad fighter (and she's certainly very cool/humble).

Holm's ground game (or, I guess "ground defense" still, at this point) has improved. Not to Rousey or even Tate's level, but she's getting better. Her striking is obviously sick. If I'm her manager, I train her exclusively on dirty boxing and BJJ from this point and she becomes unstoppable.

Tate is a good fighter for sure, I place her 4th in her division really

She is absolutely NOT cool or humble. That is all an act. There's a reason she was run/pushed out of just about every gym she's ever trained. I've had several conversations with her and she can flip that switch to "the good girl" once all eyes are on her

Well that proves all Ronda had to do was not chase after Holly.

To an extent yes.
More importantly Ronda needed to not be so emotionally invested, needs to dump that ******* coach and get with a real team.

I'd love Ronda on a team like say AKA? Cain, rockhold, DC and the like would really put her on the right track IMO.

She just shouldn't have chased after her swinging. She could have done exactly what Tate did, and probably better...if she didn't try to trade blows with Holm. Same as any other grappler going after a striker.

I agree, her coach is NOT doing her any favors. They're there to help you work on your weaknesses, not to convince you that they don't exist.

It's coming up over and over again. Fact is if two UFC fighters both have decent striking skills, then whomever has the better ground game wins. It happened with Holly and also with Connor on Saturday night.

S/he that have black belt in BJJ is at the top of the game. If Connor Mcg had both the boxing power and a black belt in BJJ, he would be unstoppable. Same for Holly. As it is, a boxer will be under pressure to end the fight before it goes to ground. The BJJ black belt just has to wait for a takedown and the rear chokes and joint locks do the rest.

I agree with most of this. The only slight difference is that Holly's striking is substantially better than Tate's, both in power and range. If they were on par with each other, then you're right....Tate would have been a near lock to win.

I think Holm's camp is pushing her in the right direction (hopefully towards ground game and maybe some clinch work).
