You sound like Joe Rogan and Dana White talking about Rousey, until she actually met someone that could box that destroyed her twice, no problem.

Greatest MMA fighter of all time.

Conner isn't some unbeatable god. He's just a man like anybody else.

Besides, Mayweather would be too small for McGregor. In real life, McGregor would be fight Canelo, GGG, and Jacobs, all three, bigger stronger men.
ummmm clearly you dont read well, nobody expects conor to do much in this fight. its a boxing match. as conor said, its half a fight. this half happens to be mayweathers specialty.

what does rousey have to do with this conversation?
as to her losing to a boxer, NO, she lost to a MMA fighter. she lost to holly who happens to be a boxer that transitioned and learned how to defend takedowns and such.
but again, whats that got to do with conor in any way?

whos the greatest mma fighter of all time? (fedor IMO before he past his prime) nobody on this thread.
again whats that got to do with conor?

conor has been beat, and nobody thinks hes a god. but that doesnt have any bearing on this fight. and again, mayweather would never step in the cage or fight conor in any way outside of the boxing ring because he knows conor would murder him in a real fight or in a cage. mayweather is limited.

in real life? what in real life? ive been in the bjj/mma game for over 20 years, people fiht bigger and smaller people all the time. even "in real life"
WTF. is conor fighting floyd? is this real life or is this all just a dream in your head?

Jon Jones? Are you serious? Jones would destroy McGregor. Not only is Jones much bigger but he's also a much better fighter. McGregor needs to stay in his weight class.

Jon Jones is 6'4; Conor Mcgregor is 5'9 - 5'10. This is a big mismatch. Jones is a very athletic 6'4. He knows how to use his reach and is a true martial artist (muay thai, wrestling, boxing, etc). The best fight for Jones is Alexander Gus. They have the same reach and height.

I know that Cormier fought bigger guys but they were not as athletic as Jones. Bigfoot is a slow heavyweight and Mir was at his decline. Also, it might be time for Cormier to retire. He had a great career and he has his commentary career that he can focus and make $$ on.

Doubtful. Think Floyd retires for another 2-3 years, at least until he needs to pay his taxes, debtors again. Conor's team is reporting right now that he wants to defend his UFC belt again this year after the Floyd fight, but who knows. All that money, possibility of injury, recovery if he gets knocked out, etc. It could be a while before we hear from either of these two again after this...

He probably wants to do the MSG event in November for a big payday. I believe Jon Jones and Brock will fight on that card too..

McGregor doesn't defend belts he holds divisions hostage until he is stripped and he isn't going to come back and fight Kabib or Ferguson. His next fight will be Diaz III, Woodley for the chance at a 3rd belt or GSP if he beats Bisping.

defending belts is a pet peeve of mine.
youre not a true champion until you do that.

as for that list, he would get murdered by any and every one of those guys except diaz which IMO should be at 155 not 170.

It's in a boxing ring because Mayweather is doing McGregor a favor. McGregor is about to make more money in 36 minutes than he has over the course of his entire career.

It goes without saying that Mayweather would lose to McGregor in the Octagon. But Mayweather gets to choose the terms of engagement since there are literally no MMA bouts that could yield McGregor $75-$125 million.

This is all one big publicity stunt anyway. Boxing and MMA are two entirely different things so people should stop comparing them.

mayweather has everything to lose and zero to gain besides some $ to cover those tax bills since he never seems to be able to pay his taxes.

the whole "but hes gonna make so much money that he couldnt make anywhere else" is a tired argument.

is he making 100 mil in mma? nope, but outside of mayweather (and formerly manny) how many boxers are making 100mil +? none really. conors last fight with diaz, on a low end estimate brought him 15, and on the high end about twice that. tyson fury vs wladimir klitschko brought fury 5-6 mil, and klitschko 12-15 mil.

Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz earn estimated $15 million and $13 million respectively for UFC 202 | BJPenn.com
Wladimir Klitschko vs Tyson Fury II Purse Payouts (Confirmed)

so it a huge payday for conor? absolute, but the top mma guys are not terribly far off on pay from the top boxing guys.

most boxers are making similar money to the mma guys, boxing fans can only seem to focus on the stupid money mayweather makes.

publicity stunt? absolutely! boxing and mma totally different sports? also absolutely.
only boxing fanatics seem to forget that.
