UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor posted a cryptic message about retiring to Twitter.
Now this most certainly does not mean that we will never see McGregor in the Octagon, he has a scheduled bout against Nate Diaz at UFC 200. It's a grudge match to avenge his only loss from their bout at UFC 196 in early March and McGregor has reportedly been obsessed with getting an immediate rematch and avenging that loss.

He's retiring cause he saw his teammate kill some dude in the octagon in Ireland. Plus, what does this have to do with Los Angeles?

Conor according to facebook and other sources is not retiring. Seems he is not showing up to the promotional events, Which is part of the job. Hes always been controversial but not showing up to work is basically what hes doing outside of the fight part of it. UFC like many companies esp sports ones have politics that go on which this involves for sure.

I think he will be back sooner rather then later.

He's not retired - and lately, Conor and Floyd have been hyping a "superfight" inside a boxing ring. It's doubtful it'll take place...but it can't be to far fetched if Floyd is entertaining the thought of it.

Jose Aldo requested a release from the ufc because conor will not come back and give him a rematch.
Jose was a great champ for many years, and while he was beat quick, he is deserving of a rematch more than conor was deserving of one with diaz.

Its all about the money though isnt it. He does deserve the rematch but I think hell get it the beginning of the new year unless McGregor gets knocked out in November.

Also, I dont really feel bad for Aldo considering he danced around a fight with McGregor with his "injuries" and the dodging the USADA.

aldo has been one of the most humble, longest running champs in any division.
he tried to avoid the "antics" of conor for ever.
then after a "flash ko" conor moves up 2 weight classes where he gets handled and submitted. then an immediate rematch where he wins a QUESTIONABLE decision. then a title fight at 155. all the while aldo is down at 145 cleaning out the next best thing in frankie edgar.

yeah its all about the money, and IMO conor is ducking the CRAP out of aldo and frankie!

its just so strange, dana wouldnt let jones move up to heavy weight, he held ronda back from moving up to a none existent weight class, he wouldnt let BJ move up to 185 for a fight and was reluctant to let him go back to 170 for the diaz fight, but he lets conor go where ever he pleases. crazy!

He's not been as big or as good as he used to be since he had to stop (change?) whatever he was juiced on. He may have been humble but he wasnt winning on skill alone.

I do agree with you McGregor is getting his own way on who he fights, he is making bank for the UFC and thats why theyre letting him do it. IMHO he will fight and beat Aldo in the new year. He did get handled in the first fight but I do think he barely pipped the second one. It is hard to move up two weights like that, something I dont think he should be allowed to do again.

So will the next fight between FM and Connor be in the Octagon? Since this upcoming one is about boxing, will the following one be MMA between the two?
