You're correct, nobody with a single discipline is lasting in mma. Ronda was about as close as they come since the very early days of style vs style.
Thats why I said 'maybe', although modern sambo could also be looked as a single martial art, despite being comprised of others.

Fact is that Ronda was the beneficiary of a very weak division that was in its infancy.
I would venture that today she is not even top ten in that class.
this is silly. judo at its core is jiu jitsu. the idea that judo fared worse than other "traditional" martial arts is just uneducated and ignorant in the subject.
lmao wow.

i dont fully disagree but saying sambo is a single martial art is like saying mma is a single martial art in itself.

JKD is a bit closer to mma than any "single martial art" but has IMO become "mcdojo" unfortunately.

As I understand it sambo is trained in an integrated manner, where as the disciplines in mma are still separated by speciality.

really all depends where you train.
who you train with.
and what level of training you have/are looking for

a lot of places are putting it all together from the start. look at guys like rory macDonald who have only trained mma as a single system not a conglomerate of others.

So, I neither player hate nor wish to take away the achievements of another, be they male or female, transsexual or non-binary, gay or straight, atheist or religious, black or white.

BTW Ronda is 1/8 black, which qualifies her as african american under the one drop rule.

Nunes throws punches like a man. She has a really good build for fighting. She's shown some weaknesses in the past, like a suspect gas tank and heart, but she's so dangerous these days that it's hard for fighters to even drag her into deep waters. I think probably Holly would give her the best fight, but not sure if she will ever get a shot against her.
