Default about "Sugar" Rashad Evans

i have never understood the negativity that so many UFC fans have towards Rashad.

i heard some woman (silly girl, more likely) on the radio saying that she was disappointed about Rampage quiting MMA "because now we wont get to see him beat the ish out of Rashad"

now, as for Rampage, who is one of my all-time favorites and a legit UFC elite (who DID NOT lose to Forrest Griffin btw) -- i'll miss him. but good for you, Rampage. g'on 'n' make yo money. BUT - odds are that Rashad would have won that fight.

and when you ask people why they dont like Rashad, it's for reasons that arent even true, but are accepted as fact. like, "he's a big **** talker." really??? compared to who? Rampage??? seriously, compared to who? what kind of **** does Rashad talk?

when you look at Rashad's carreer, it almost seems like people booing the Little Engine That Could. look at his carreer starting with TUF Season 2. wasnt he in about every fight in his weight class because everyone thought he was the weakest fighter? didnt Dana White change the rules starting in Season 3 because of this? he's got IMO 2 of the top 5 highlight knockouts in UFC history. he goes in and beats Chuck which, style-wise looked like a no-win situation for him. and then "the fans" are delusional enough to consider him a 4 to 1 underdog against Forrest??? come on! style-wise, that was practically a no-win situation for Forrest - who i also like.

i've always attributed this to the fact that people lack the ability to think for themselves, and Rashad has been unpopular ever since his first fight when Matt Hughes, at the time the most dominant welterweight champion in UFC history, talked **** about him.

what a bunch of B.S.

go Rashad

met rashad here in houston at ufc 69, (met him a couple other times since but that was 1st) and out of the 3 people the ufc brought to sign autographs, he was the only one willing to shake hands and actually had a smile on his face (the other 2 being matt "asshat" hughes, and sean "roids" sherk). rashad is a nice guy but that said i dont like him as a fighter. i dont like the way he HAS show boated in his fights and how he tries (imo) to emulate ALI to much, he has to much of a "im the greatest ever" kinda attitude when it comes to his job. he just rubs me the wrong way i guess in that instance. the way he acts is the way anderson silva has started to be over the last yr or so and i have started counting the days until he gets beat, maybe bring him back to earth.

rashad really is a nice guy, just dont like his "persona at work."

yeah, see, i just dont see it. what has he ever said or done to make you feel that way? everybody says they're gonna win and that they're a force to be reckoned with in the pre-fight interviews. why does it rub people the wrong way when Rashad does his ****ing job?

see here is the thing, you obviously like rashad and it doesnt mater what i say i dont like about him or what instances are named or shown (case in point the quick vid already posted of a "showboat move") you are going to say "i dont see it" or "i dont know what your talking about" so it is pretty well pointless to do it.

like i said he was a very nice guy in person the few times i met him, just dont like his "persona" at work, and i dont care for the jackson guys. chalk it up to IMO.

but see, you are also making my point. you could say you just dont care for him or his fights, but you, like so many others, try to site things that arent based in reallity, but popular misconception. it's kinda hard for me not to think that youre saying it doesnt matter because im a fan because you really cant back up what youre saying. im not saying that not liking Rashad Evans makes you or anyone else a bad person. what i'm saying is that it is entirely possible that word got out that Rashad was some show-boatin', ****-talkin', entertainer-type of fighter based on Matt Hughes' constructive critisism of his very first televised fight and no amount of accomplishment or improvement can prove otherwise.

He is no Fedor,(you knew that was coming Rigas) or Randy C. when it comes to humility and respect for your opponent,or just plain class. He is in the same catagory as Tito.If Rashad and and Jackson ever do fight they will circle one another and it would turn into a dance contest or a your momma contest.
