tuckerbell,
When you come to visit Fairhope, please visit the new elementary/middle school facility on N Section street. This will give you an idea about the size of school age student body. There are also a few other schools...K1 downtown Fairhope, Newton, ect.
My next door neighbors moved here from Mobile, built a lovely home(we live intown Fairhope), and are very happy with the move, and they are saving the $ they were spending having the kids in private school in MOB.
In case you have heard Fairhope is for old people...please check the schools. This will give an idea that that is not correct. My husband and I moved here from Atlanta(East Cobb), 7 years ago, as it his hometown changed too much for our liking. We are old...but enjoy seeing all the children and how the city has so many activities for them. The sports complex, with baseball, soccer, football and skateboard parks is awesome. 2 pools, workout facilities...you name it!
There are numerous parades...Halloween day the stores have candy and kids trick or treat in town. There is the lighting of the trees downtown, with music and fun for all, in preparation for Christmas...and then there is Mardi Gras...St Patricks parade...ect. Come down and ck it all.
BTW, go on cofairhope.com. It is a great site!!!

Fairhope is really nice. It can be a bit "cutesy" or "precious", but it has a bit of character, and some cute specialty shops and restaurants & pubs. You can't beat its location on bluffs overlooking Mobile Bay! Plus, who wouldn't want an excuse to put visiting friends & family up at the Grand Hotel?

There is nothing I can think of to hate in Fairhope, AL. Have lived here three times, because each time we leave, we miss it so much we move back. No more moves. Family is on West Coast - too bad. The most beautiful scenary, nicest people, good shopping, both quaint and malls (20 minutes to Malls off Hiway 10), polite drivers and so on.

Default Thomas Hospital!

The parking is virtually non-existent including the doctors building. And this includes the office behind it as well...an absolute nightmare. People ALWAYS parked on the main driveways on the property. I feel for the vendors who deliver there as I see them all the time nearly missing vehicles due to the rediculous layout of the place...another reason why Providence cant be touched!... great parking!

Gosh, we just think the parking is just fine - kind of a hey, let's just take it easy and slowly navigate. Folks have to back out into the main small street and we just pause and let them do so - usually get a nice wave or nod. Courtesy and relaxing are a way of life here usually. If in a major hurry, can bypass the downtown area, but what's the hurry? Interstate 10 is only twenty minutes away if one needs to get back into that world. I was raised in the Los Angeles area and been there, done that, and would just as soon never do it again. Oh, one rarely hears the beep of a horn here, it would be like chalk squeaking on a blackboard - only done for a true emergency, not impatience. Always exceptions, of course. Whoops, I didn't see the parking was about at the hospital - agreed, not enough, especially handicapped (which I am), however there is a very active valet type service - like a golf cart that goes around and asks if you'd like a lift. I don't think it's worse than many other hospital/medical set ups all over the states though. I'm a RN and had to walk a long way just to get to work, so it's no big deal.
