Well, I'm almost a completely certified English teacher, but I wish I were able to do more to ensure that I receive some kind of employment upon graduation.

I was thinking about going back after I graduate and trying to get a math certification so that I would have a better chance of being hired as a math or science teacher.

What about going to Atlanta and studying at a Le Cordon Bleu and working at a restaurant during the summer?

Honestly, I've also considered joining Peace Corps or Americorps to get something on my resume.

I'm a college student on financial aid, and I'm not in the best financial condition right now. Plus, I'm very bored. I haven't worked, even on a part-time job, since I've been in college. My coursework is not too demanding for me to have a part-time job. I do tutoring for free on the side, and that doesn't really seem to affect my academic progress. Having a part-time job probably wouldn't, either.

If you truly want to teach for a career then I would suggest getting the math certificate. It would make you more well rounded and a principle would view you as a more versatile teacher. The Peace Corps or Americorps sounds like great options. I wish I had done one of those when I was younger.

Well, I would like to get a math certification, but I'm a terrible math student; that's why I switched to English in the first place. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might be able to improve my math skills and obtain a certification without having to get another bachelor's or alternative master's? I was thinking about taking some classes at Faulkner State Community College. Do you think that would work?
