The change to Boeing should have been made, besides the Boeing plane gave the US many more jobs, maybe not in Alabama but...........

I read that EADS would have created more.

No, Boeing is not located in Mobile, but if folks are desperate for work, sometimes you have to go where the work is located.

Perhaps the cost of MORE jobs that you seem to think that EADS would have created is indeed what ran up the tab for the EADS proposal. Jobs will be created by Boeing as well, but the cost has to be kept in check somehow.

Let's just hope that the planes will indeed be safe...and yes, both EADS and Boeing have had issues with their aircraft...no need to point fingers in that department.

EADSNA is based in America. Besides, the Pentagon said that wouldn't be a determining factor. So, what is it then?

EADS is a French company, to say that the EADS plane would have created more jobs (probably in Alabama) is crazy. The problem of originally granting Airbus the contract turned into a political nightmare, granting a non-US company a large military contract.

Well if you don't believe anything Airbus says then I can't change your mind. However, it certainly doesn't help to do that when companies like this come calling in Alabama. Airbus was poised to become a top employer in Mobile while the suppliers would have been spread throughout the state and the around Mobile on the gulf coast. It became a political nightmare only because Boeing made it a political nightmare.

^^^ Exactly Lockheed and Northrup which are both American companies didn`t go political when Austal an Australian company won a 5 billion dollar contract with the Navy. That is why I don`t buy into all of this purchase American and support American jobs bologna.Am I missing something between Austal a foreign company winning a billion dollar contract with the Navy and EADS another foreign company that had the potential to win a billion dollar contract ?

IMO the chance that Airbus would make any plane for the American military was just wrong !!

Since we are talking about 1500 jobs in Mobile, perhaps it is not too late to try to attract Boeing-given the setup available in Mobile and that EADS thought it would be a great spot. But wait, I guess our gov't leaders have pretty much burned bridges with Boeing...I hope not, but from the sounds of things, I wouldn't be surprised if Boeing pulls out of our state completely. Again, I certainly hope not, as there are many in Huntsville already employed with Boeing.

That bridge could be burned between Boeing and Mobile lol...Boeing was going to build a 500 million dollar air craft plant in Mobile before they decided to move to Everett,Wa. Mobile wasn`t as aggressive as we are now and we allowed that opportunity to slip.Mobile has a REAL ESTATE DIAMOND(Brookly) and it has always been attractive to the aerospace industry..As for Boeing pulling out of Huntsville well the two need each other so I don`t see that happening.
