Hello all,
In August I will be heading to Fairhope to buy my new home.
I have been trying to get out of the cesspool that is N.Y. for a few yrs now(a Conservative in N.Y....real tuff to handle),I'm retired and sooooooo happy to be moving to Fairhope.
Funny a lot of people say.."Oh people down south will not like you because your from N.Y.".....
Well all I can say is,thats 100% FALSE,I have found people down south to be kind and friendly towards me and I have yet to have a problem.

I have been on vacations many times in Fairhope and surrounding areas and love it....

See you soon neighbors!!!!

kerrymac,

Welcome to paradise!!! People who say they won't treat you right down here have obviously never been here...so when they come to visit you, they'll be envious for sure!!!
Many of my friends from Atlanta thought my "redneck" husband had dragged me kicking and screaming(he's an Atlanta native), and some started visiting 2 weeks after we moved to see this "awful" place. LOL!!! Surprise, surprise!!! We have not been back to ATL in 3 1/2 yrs. and do not miss it at all. Anyone misses us, they come down to see us.

Good luck with your move and hope you fall in love with Fairhope as much as we did.

My brother from Pennsylvania, just visited me here in Gulf Shores and could not get over how friendly and polite people are down here in the south. He even made several comments about how nice it was to get good service everywhere we ate. Outstanding compared to places near Pittsburgh. I have found most everyone I have met to be very nice.

Kerrymac, welcome to the community. Get ready for nice natural scenery, great winters, nice people, and nasty, horrible summers.

Based on your handle, you will will probobly fit in with 65% of the population here politically. However, I think your handle sucks. Have a nice day nonetheless.

Congratulations and welcome, kerrymac, to the Alabama Gulf Coast! You've chosen a great area for you and your family so here's hoping for an easy and smooth home selection/relocation to Fairhope for all of you in the near future!

Oh, and just as a FYI, in polite southern conversation here, there are two things we do not discuss --> religion or politics! Sorry, couldn't resist... for I have to ditto Azalea City Man's reply comment to you above as well.

I have friends from LI who live in NE AL and they love it here. They can't believe how friendly the ppl are here.

I also agree with Bestyet2be.. I know some ppl do but most of us older Mobilians were brought up not to discuss religion or politics.
