My husband and I purchased a foreclosed home and the one year right of redemption is up next week. We were just wondering when we would hear whether anyone had exercised their right to redeem or that we have clear title to the property. Would we hear on the date of expiration of the year or does it take longer? If it takes longer who could we call to find the status?

Thanks for your help. Didn't worry about this too much during the year, but these last few days are getting longer and longer! Not knowing the exact date of notification isn't helping either.

The house will be clear one year exactly from the day it was foreclosed. My understanding is that if anyone was to redeem it, you would have been notified already. So relax and enjoy! (By the way, you should have a warranty deed already when you closed on the property, that will give you clear title when the year expires.)

99% of the time, you should be fine. IF they attempted, they would have to repay you for any repairs, PLUS they would have to bring their mortgage back to current.
