BAY MINETTE, Alabama — Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance director Robert Ingram said a new website aimed at luring a major manufacturer to the Catawba/Crosby Megasite in north Baldwin will help put the property on a world stage.
County officials pooled resources to launch the web page, www.southalabamamegasite.com, representatives announced last week.
“It looks fantastic,” said Baldwin County Commissioner Charles “Skip” Gruber. “We put our techs on it and didn’t spend a lot of money, but they put their hearts into it. It will be a big help getting the word out.”
Commissioner Tucker Dorsey said the website is geared more toward site location professionals than the general public.

This site is about 10 miles from my home and I drive by it nearly everyday. It's a nice forested area full of wildlife and I'd sure hate to see it destroyed, but then I know people need jobs too.

I guess the HK Hybrid Kinetics plant didn't work out.

Yeah it would be good for Mobile or Baldwin counties to win this. They said that no decision made and have about 12 months left so Mobile & Baldwin need to come together and campaign this. Some Audi lady told me the discussions on this is getting tense so it wont be easy. If the megasite got this, it would probably create a domino effect being that its Audi

Baldwin and Escambia counties would benefit more from this than Mobile County would.

Hyundai, Audi, and maybe Volvo are thought to be considering new plant construction. Huntsville has a megasite available (which came in second for VW Chattanooga). TVA has megasites available in West TN (Brownsville) and Hopkinsville KY. Norcross GA also has a megasite available.

Good job Baldwin County! Offering a megasite helps recruit business - but it may take some time, effort, and incentives.
