Also, if anyone wouldn't mind putting up pictures of Mobile's countryside, as I'm interested in relocating to Mobile in the future, it'd be much obliged

Having locally owned boutique stores downtown would be nice it adds charecter.

New here. Live in the downtown area. Would love to get more people to move here. Hell, will take people on tours if necessary.

I'm somewhat surprised Starbucks hasn't opened a coffee shop somewhere along either Dauphin or Royal.

A downtown like Santa Barbara, Ca. with bike lanes and sidewalks everywhere, flowers and trees everywhere, no ugly overhead power lines or billboards, electric trollies, chef owned individual restaraunts that cook fresh, local , organic food, art galleries, museums, theatres, beautiful harbor and wharf, open air malls and boutique hotels and shops, no over development, quality architecture and red tile brick sidewalks. Santa Barbara is nicknamed "the American Riviera". They were "New Urbanism" before it was even a term. They are also very protective of their town, realizing how precious it is. They dont want their waters contaminated with large ships and promote more sailboats and nonmotorized boats. Also because they dont want to harm sea life like dolphins. They are against pollution and are striving to make their city car free. You can bike and walk everywhere. No hotels are allowed to be built beachside because they want everyone to have views and to enjoy their coast. Even Ty Warner's Biltmore and Fess Parkers Doubletree are across the street- they refused to sacrifice beauty. Just a great city to pattern high quality, healthy, and beautiful living from.

sharpkris,

You are describing Fairhope, as in a smaller scale, it has many of these attributes. Santa Barbara has the beautiful mountains that we lack and the Pacific is prettier than the bay, but we really have a very nice town.

Fairhhope sounds beautiful, too! Much like Santa Barbara. I can't wait to visit! I wish more places cared about quality and character. We stayed in Rosemary Beach, Fl. over spring break and it reminded me of Santa Barbara. My inlaws live in SB and every time we have to leave my heart aches for the beauty of the place! Now I am trying to find places like it but closer to home. Thanks for your post.
