Default Thanks everyone

Hi again, for the longest time I really didnt have any responses, so I havent been checking in, but thank you all for your input. I still havent gotten there, two months for me and my sons, but my husband has been there since December and loves it. We just bought a home outside of Mobile in the Montgomery school district. My youngest son will be a senior and he does realize its going to be an adjustment, our high school here has grades 7 thru 12 with a total of 1,300 students. Only approx. 100 seniors graduate every year. We did look into the Spanish Fort area, but I couldnt find a house in our price range, with everything we needed.

After going thru this last winter here in PA, I cant wait to not have to go thru another one! I know I will miss the mountains, but can come back to visit whenever we can. The heat and humidity will be an adjustment, but we're putting in a pool, so that will help right?

I am still concerned with being the northerner but we are basically nice friendly people, very family orientated, and hopefully will make friends. I've got to be honest, when I read thru all the posts on this forum, I was scared that we would never fit in, that just cause we are from here people wouldnt like us, but will do my best.

I do understand about some northerners being rude, but I come from a very small town, lived here for 17 years and almost every one you meet, even strangers, when out walking say hi, how's your day, etc. Its like someone said, it all depends where you are. I think for me one of the things I will have to get used to is living so close to a major city, the closest large city near us is 50+ miles away. I think I also had a negative attitude about the whole relocation thing because I didnt really want to leave my home. Since then, my attitude has changed and I going to embrace this move and make the very best of it. And hopefully that will help me to fit in. My middle son is in Mobile right now and doesnt even want to come home, he told me to have his school mail his diploma! That's a good sign isnt it?

Thanks again everyone for all the insights, I really do appreciate it!
Wanda

Thumbs up Sounding Good!

njjsmom, sounds like you'll do just fine. The pool will indeed help with the heat and humidity. I know it must be scary, but I'm sure you'll find people here to be much like your acquantances in PA. Hope the move goes well, and welcome.
