If Ocean Springs, MS is the only store in our region that is planned (for now), it is going to be VERY isolated.

Unless others are planned, it will be the only location between Houston, TX and Lake City, FL on the I-10 corridor.

The closest location to them is in Tuscaloosa right now.

Hopefully this is the start of their expansion on the Gulf Coast....

I agree, seems a very odd place to start given the larger New Orleans/Slidell market to the west, and the Mobile/Pensacola market to the east. I'm optimistic that it will do well enough to encourage other stores in our area. I would love to see one in Mobile as it's much closer for me than OS.

This makes sense, especially since the article says they are looking at more sites along the Gulf Coast!

With all of the vacant former standalone Rite Aid stores (the rest are converting to Walgreens), there are lots of possibilities.....Cottage Hill & University, Airport and Hillcrest, even the one at Government St & Michigan Ave!

I've seen rumors of this, and it looks like it will happen in the Atlanta area with a number of their Kohl's stores downsizing to make room for a second tenant...

Aldi has been rumored as a possible co-tenant and the broker that is making these deals happen is the same broker that sold Aldi the land in Fairhope.

It could be a possibility here in Mobile if Kohl's downsizes their locations and carves off spots for Aldi. If it happens, that would give them a location off Schillinger and at the Spanish Fort Town Center.

We shall see...but the prospect of getting Aldi here will really put the hurt on Winn Dixie and Walmart....

I could see the Spanish Fort location but not Schillingers. Schillingers has always been far more busy. They may build it in the new shopping center on Schillingers.
