If I didn't have to work in Mobile and I wanted acreage, I would go over the Bay to the cute little areas with the towns like Robertsdale, etc. Magnolia Springs, etc. Or living outside of Fairhope would be great. But this is generally going to be more expensive than living in the country in West Mobile.

I used to live in Semmes, actually just west of Snow Rd/ Howell's Ferry intersection down Howell's Ferry Road in a subdivision (poorly planned, but we didn't realize that until too late)around a lake. It's really beautiful, but I got tired of the traffic, which is now even worse. We had a really hard time selling our house because that's just not a popular section of town, regardless of how pretty it is out there.

Well, we moved to Midtown and never looked back. But we thought to ourselves that if we didn't like Midtown, next time we'd move out to the country but not to Semmes again. South of Airport is where I would look.

The Lakes is really nice but it's pretty far out. It is a development but really spread out.

I would still invest in land across the Bay because you are close to the outlets in Foley and the beach. Plus hospital nearby (Thomas Hosp.)

I agree, I love Magnolia Springs, Summerdale, Silverhill and Robertsdale. Foley isn't bad just a lot of traffic during tourist season.

I personally would recommend these towns over Bay Minette. I hear Stapleton is growing but I remember it when it was wilderness.
