I hope Rouse has plans to redevelop the former Sears Auto Center outparcel into something...it would make for a decent restaurant or medium size store with GREAT visibility on Airport Blvd...

Now THAT would be a great location for a Trader Joe's!

The auto center would probably be a latter phase of development. It's a great potential location for a pair of sit down restaurants.

Perfect place for a cheesecake factory, but I highly doubt mobtown will be getting one of those anytime soon

They won't touch Wichita, Kansas and that metro has around 200,000 more people in it.

Baldwin will be back in the metro. Metro Mobile is really around 615k, so Wichita has about 25,000 more people. Although that probably isn't the biggest factor for them.

Mobile also has two big metros (Biloxi and Pensacola) that could potentially come there. So in actuality, we have a lot of people that can contribute to our economy

One of the conditions of the tax break Mayor Stimpson is offering to Rouse is that the Springdale Belk has to be re-tenanted by Rouse. I don't see it as a department store of any kind given the trouble stores like Kohls and Macy's are facing. The answer will probably be demolishing the old store for another big box.

What would be great is if they lured Academy sports into that spot and sent Burlington packing for their old spot at festival center. This would give them a much more prime location and more of a buffer from their other store down the street. Also, it would be a catalyst to redevelop Springdale into something more productive and lure in better tenants.

I don't know about Academy given the fact they just built the store at Airport near Cody not to long ago and I'm just wondering if they're going to close the one at the festival center once their lease runs out. Who knows, to me it would make better sense because of the prime location as well as people living in Midtown wouldn't have to cross over 65 to get to academy.

Nordstrom Rack and Trader Joe's and/or Aldi's would be perfect tenants for Springdale mall, among a host of restaurants. Barnes & Noble should make a comeback here as well, and leave Eastern shore center

Springdale is a lost cause. Unless they trade hands in ownership, there's not too much hope
