Really? They just recently renovated the store...weird that they're closing down. I think it's a good store for the younger girls. My niece absolutely loves that store so it's kind of sad to see it closing.

I know, me too!!! I hope they make an announcement this coming Monday! I heard rumors of J.Crew and Free people coming, and also Nestle Toll House Cafe by Chip, and that the Belk Flaghship will sell some really high-end stuff (more than Dillard's) like Prada and Jimmy Choo shoes and they will have a fur vault (Henig Furs) within the store. Of course, Michael Kors, Aldo, A.T. LOFT, Chico's, etc.

We still have Justice in Eastern Shore Center right next door by Claire's.

I'm surprised that location hasn't shuttered as well.

Being the first Monday after the holidays seems like the opportune time to say something.

I'm waiting to the Macy's press release to come out announcing what stores are going to be shuttered. In past years, they've pruned 5-6 of their weaker stores still in dead malls or far-flung locations. This go-around could see some pull-outs of their weaker markets.

Seeing this next move makes me doubt that Macy's could ever open here in lower Alabama. Belk opening a flagship store here speaks volumes of their commitment to the area, and the only way we could ever see Macy's enter here would be if another store (Dillard's) pulls out. The only other way could be if they are successful in luring one to the new (if it's ever built) mall in D'Iberville, since it's next up from New Orleans which has been one of their older markets (that actually launched as Macy's and not through mergers or name changes) Remember they came back after Katrina at Esplanade and even decided to build a new store at Lakeside after abandoning their New Orleans Center store.
