As predicted, the Greer's on Government Street (by Whataburger) has closed.

The leasing brochure from Stirling says:
"Currently Occupied by Greers, Landlord has a 90 day right to termination due to rent incentives applied from competition moving into the market. Seeking discount mercantile as a alternative anchor."

Given the site, the options may be limited. May be a good second site for Ollie's Bargain Outlet once their Semmes store opens.

I know Greer's is home grown but I distaste them for the extra 10 % on top of cost and local taxes. That's like 20% taxes ! Good ridence to them until they can do better.

I agree because they are not charging you an extra 10 percent like a tax. They are charging you their cost plus 10 percent. The profit margin at Walmart is 25 percent. It'd be like WM saying we'll charge you our cost plus 25 percent instead of 10 percent. And everybody pays sales tax, although I think that price should be calculated into the price tag like in Europe.
