Good afternoon everyone! I have been watching your forum for a while now as my family is seriously looking to relocate to the Mobile area. There have been some great conversations on here to help with learning about the area and for that, I want to say thanx! As for us, we currently reside in Charleston; spouse is from mid-northeast area and I am originally from Louisiana (moved to Charleston after hurricane Katrina). After some serious conversation and visits we have made to relatives, we look to get back to the Gulf and be closer to some family.

We have recently did a quick visit to Mobile to get a feel of the area for ourselves. We are looking to start with a somewhat small historic style home (maybe in Midtown) and later move forward with buying land. First thing first though, jobs. My husband has been with fedex ground for over six years so we are interested in learning about fedex in Mobile. I saw that fedex is building a new 193k sqft terminal for fedex ground in Theodore with a projected finish date of early 2016 - so is that still in the process or has it already been completed? Any additional info that may be helpful would be appreciated on that matter. I have seen there are many renovation projects either in the works or taking place (like Bel Air Mall), which looks great. Any input on midtown home areas - crime areas to stay away from, up and coming areas to focus on, streets to really watch?

I know there are several write ups regarding people moving to the Mobile area and I have read them. I just wanted to see if I could get some specific input on fedex ground information and current midtown area issues from the true locals! Much appreciation!!

That's great. If you like a New Orleans or Charleston feel check out the Oakleigh Garden District.

Thanks for responding! We checked out Oakleigh Garden District when we were in town and liked it. Can you by chance tell us anything about the new FedEx Ground terminal in Theodore?

I have not heard the latest on this project, but have not heard anything that would lead me to believe that it has been delayed significantly.

Nowhere do they say New Orleans. Do you regularly just make things up to spite Mobile?

southernevergreen, don't mind brownbagg. He always finds a reason to derail or troll.

Thanks so much! Glad to hear there are no major delays being reported. Have you by chance seen a finish date? I know previously the reports were early 2016 but I have experience with corporate builds and know complete dates are often moved; I've tried to find updates on this project but no luck.

Thanks for the update and attention. As for your Nola comment - been there, done that - I'm a native of Louisiana and not a fan of unsolicited opinion, especially without context.

Thanks again Southsky for the side note on this one!

I have not seen a finish date, but I'd imagine (with it being Fedex) that it will be sooner rather than later.

Thanks again for responding! I hate there is no documented finish date somewhere but you make a good point about it being FedEx.
