I spent the past weekend in the Mobile area and I loved how friendly people seemed to be in the shops, restaurants etc and was wondering if it might be a fun place to experience living there rather than passing through as a tourist. I stayed in Daphne, but I'm wondering if the downtown would be somewhere with more of a young population and night life? I know there's a couple kickball leagues in the area. I'm from California where people are generally more aloof and I found the Alabaman vibes to be rather refreshing.

The market for living downtown is exploding and supply is not keeping up with the demand. However, in the next 2-3 years, there will be a big increase in supply when a lot of "in-development" units go on the market.

But, on the subject of your question, it is quite fun to live (and work) downtown. If you can find a place you like when it is "on the market" you need to be able to move quick. They typically move pretty fast. Downtown is certainly a lot better for younger people than, say, Daphne.

Thanks for the tip...it looked like there is not a whole lot of activity on Craigslist for apartment-shares. Do people utilize any other websites for that over there?

We all know your short-sighted opinions. It's unfortunate we still have to put up with your trolling.

I'd try realtors in the area... such as Roberts Brothers or LLB&B.
