My husband has a job offer in mobil al.we are considering moving our family from il to al. The distance is making it difficult to look into much when we have no idea where to start? We will be looking to rent. We have 2 small children so a safe area is must. Country living would be prefered. Areas to avoid? Area to look into?

Welcome to the area! FYI, the city/county/bay/river is spelled "Mobile".

If you want country living, then I'd immediately say West Mobile or northern/eastern Baldwin county. It might help to know where your husband's job is located.

If you want suburban or rural living then West Mobile, North Mobile, or Baldwin County are all about the same.

West Mobile is hardly "country living". Unless you consider strip malls, red lights, parking lots, and bumper to bumper traffic "country". North Mobile or North Baldwin are probably your best bets for a rural setting.

If you go past Snow Road then West Mobile is plenty rural. North Mobile and Baldwin County have plenty of strip malls, traffic and all that stuff too.

Of course the other side of it is that most of downtown and Midtown are just as safe or safer than those areas without the hassle. But to each their own.
