Hot and humid...that's the comment you'll hear most often, and it is true. Granted, the thunderstorms that come through are powerful and quite enjoyable (I personally like heavy rain storms), but overall from late-May through mid-September, the temperature will hover near or above 90 degrees, and the humidity can be oppressive at time, particularly during periods of low rainfall.
Can't give you any info about the McDonald's situation. The one we lived closest to (Grelot & Hillcrest) was hit-or-miss with their overall food quality and service, but that can be true anywhere.

McDonalds normally has a lot of young employees, so the chances are good you will make some friends.

Hot, Humid, Hot & more Humid. Start your car and get the A/C going about 15 minutes b/4 you leave the house, if not by the time you get to any where your car will just have begin to cool down and you will still be hot and sweaty.
We are also only 40 minutes to the Beach @ Daulphin Island, 1 hour 2o minutes to Gulf Shores and 2 hours to New Orleans.
Mobile is a very friendly southern city. WELCOME ABOARD!

Marde Gras in Mobile is Awesome. I've been there during that time, and I have to say...it's up there with partying in NY.

I know there are typically quite a few Eastern Europeans also in the Gulf Shores beach area working in the restaurants there. This is an area about 1 hour and 20 minutes south of Mobile. The sand at the beach is beautiful; it is like sugar! It would be fun for time off. The water is clear but not as clear as places like Dubrovnik, Croatia on the Mediterranean.
There is another beach 30 minutes South of Mobile, Dauphin Island, but there are not many restaurants there at all.
I have noticed that occasionally the McDonald's will have a work crew of all Eastern Europeans. Service was great with them, because typically it's terrible. Mobile has a terrible labor problem. By that, I mean noone likes to work service jobs. McDonald's should be a very organized fast food restaurant.
Welcome to Mobile! Mobilians are very friendly and appreciate good service when we can get it.
