3. Azaleas right now. Everytime I walk out of the Oakleigh Garden District in the morning and see that tunnel of live oaks spread out before me, I think how lucky am I?! Azaleas are really pretty right now in that section they planted a few years ago on Spring Hill Avenue.
4. Azalea Trail Run, coming out to marvel at the Kenyans.
5. Callaghan's on Sunday night.
6. Liquid for sushi, I love Foosackly's too- especially Foo sauce, Spot of Tea outside looking at Cathedral Square. Battle House bar.
7. Ashland Place Subdivision, wish I could afford to live there! All the historic neighborhoods, which I love to jog around. The Oakleigh House Museum.
8. My friends in my neighborhood and the many impromptu porch parties. And then when I am able to enjoy my porch alone swinging on my swing, reading.
9. Spring street parties in the historic districts.
10. Joe Cain Day Parade- this year I got to ride for the first time as a guest of a friend. I looked out into the crowd along the whole route and there were happy faces everywhere! What most impressed me was how packed they were in the Broad Street/Spring Hill area (20 deep at least) but everyone was happy. It was a great experience as a Mobilian.

Wow ! you know what is so funny when I`m headed downtown going on Old Shell Rd I see several neighborhood block parties that seem fun. I also like how this neighborhood around the Lemoyne street /Dauphin historic district area thewhole neighbor hood is lit up at night the huge oak trees that cover the nighbor hood like a tunnel has a light on them. I aslo see the people in that neighborhood have parties and I think I saw a live band , local I believe. I miss that about Mobile I have been trying to find neighborhoods like that up here in Huntsville but have been unsuccessful.
I can`t wait to come home for summer vacation.

That neighborhood is Blacklawn, which seems to be a great place to live. That was our very first street party we attended on moving to Midtown; our friends who lived there moved, so we don't get to go anymore.
Our street used to have a street party, but it's been put by the wayside lately. They are a lot of work getting ready for them. I wish we'd do them again. You get an outside band and split it among everyone and set up security. Some of us catered our parties, but noone had to. Guests are only supposed to go to their invited homes but you go out and walk the street.
There's got to be an historic district of some kind in Huntsville; from what I understand, it does have some history to it, right?

yes there are historic neighborhoods in Hunstville, but nothing like Mobile. They have a Twinkingham historic district that sort of reminds me a little bit of Mobile but not exactly. They just do`nt have thsoe type of neighborhooding block parties like that.

Really don't know why it's called that, but 95% of Mobilians call the Walmart at I-65 (behind BestBuy) the "ghetto walmart". I went there all the time lol.
