Good afternoon everyone!
So I'm looking to move to Mobile toward the end of the Summer. I'm originally from Auburn, but I've been in the military for the past 10 years. From what I gather about Mobile is that it: 1. Has culture/charm 2. Close to the ocean (oblviously) 3. Crime is pretty much in line with a city of its size 4. Housing is very affordable 5. Economy is on an upswing 6. Marti gras =) All of these points sound good, but my question is; is there a good market for IT jobs in the area? I have multiple certifications, but I only have an Associates Degree. Is there anyone on the boards that is in the same field and can offer some insight? Also, does anyone disagree with my 6 reasons about and think that Mobile isn't the spot for a 30yr old single guy in the tech field? Thanks!! |

I'm not sure about the industrial prospects, but you might be able to catch on at one of the local universities (USA, Univ. of Mobile, etc.)...good luck!

Thanks for the reply! I looked at some of those resources and WOW, they wanted Masters Degrees and 10 years experience working in ship building or metallurgy for some of the big companies...
Are there any small IT firms in the area? |

Thanks again guys... There were a few jobs posted on careerbuilder that weren't on the other websites that I was looking at. I guess I was just hoping for the level of opportunity that I was seeing in places like Atlanta. Then again, I guess that isn't fair considering the difference in size between the two cities.
All that left is to get my resume looking good and toss it out there and see if there are any bites Won't know until I try! |
