Default Running in West Mobile?

Just getting used to the area after having moved here from out of state last summer- we bought a house in W Mobile and we're on an in and out road. I run and I'm hoping to up my mileage, and I could really use a nice park route. Are there any options close to Cottage Hill near Schillinger? I know Medal of Honor Park is close, but it doesn't look like it has many miles of trails or paths from maps I've seen. Am I wrong? Are there any alternatives? I'd appreciate any advice or recommendations.

I know at Medal of Honor Park there are paths in the woods and then a huge open one that goes over to that other road (Knollwood?). Jogging on my own in the woods makes me nervous personally. Maybe you could use Baker High, if it has a race track?

I do not know how much you run, but I walk at Medal Of Honor Park (CottageHillPark, it was recently renamed). The total mileage around the park on the concrete trail is 1.75 miles. (.75 miles around the soccer field and 1 mile to & fro from the entrance off of Hillcrest and back. )There are also restroom, tennis courts and a play ground on site. Water fountains on the walking/running trail too.

If you are not happy with Medal of Honor park then I would try Langan Park or the track at the Univ. of South Alabama. Both are a little further away but you could be there in 15-20 minutes from Cottage Hill and Schillinger. The drive is a little farther but the park quite large around the perimeter not to mention the sidewalks through the park.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. No, I had not actually driven through Cottage Hill Park, just looked at maps online. They evidently do not show the level of detail I needed to know to decide if it would be a good place to run. I was hoping to do long runs at a park, trying to work up to marathon preparedness. It may be a lot of loops but it sounds like a good and convenient option. I'm definitely going to check it out this week, maybe this weekend. I appreciate the feedback.

Hey, no, not planning on the Azalea Trail Run- the focus is on how fast you can run slightly over 6 miles, generally- I'm more into longer distances because I am not that fast. I like to run endurance. Right now I just want to up my mileage for marathon training. Most weeks are like miles of 5-6-7-9-7-5.

Hey, remember me. I'm the one that let you know about the area before you moved into town. How do you like it so far? I haven't had a chance to find out till now. It's good to see that you are getting settled.

Yeah, we love it here. We found a nice place around Cottage Hill Road which is a closer commute for my wife. Still getting used to the different weather, though. Have you guys made it up to KY yet? Let me know if you do and I'll point out some places to see for you.
