We've heard today that Gainesville, FL is getting a small-sized Dave & Buster's. Dave and Buster's however needs to focus on overlooking the City of Mobile as well as us telling Bel Air Mall about needing this chain on their old Belk space.

Stars and Strikes confirm for Hoover location and it will open next year. Might be hope we'd get one in Mobile.

The comments on that article is something mobile should have a concern with, even though mobile's crime isn't anywhere close to Birmingham's. If we aren't careful the eastern shore can become a competitor and not just a suburb.

Bel Air Mall recently added two arcade games and 3 more prize games. Jurassic Park Arcade, Halo: Fireteam Raven and four more prize games.

There must be proof that we might have another locally owned arcade inside the mall. It would be a good idea to at leave open large room to put all these machines to make room for more kiosks.

Port, I think you're right ... people won't travel solely for the reason of visiting D&B. I know I wouldn't. I don't really even like the place (not being a youngster anymore). We were just in Nashville this past weekend and ate at the D&B at Opry Mills, but the main reason was that it's just across the street from the Opry and that's where we were going.

One thing that people will travel to though is for the lottery and casinos. Alabama is now totally surrounded by lottery states ... Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. We're certainly letting a lot of money escape the state for no good reason.

Mentioning Nashville ... I'd not been there in a couple of years. The city is growing like crazy, with many cranes set up for downtown high-rises. Their skyline has change signicantly since I was there last. I'm not sure what they're doing right, but if our goal in Alabama is to grow, then we need to find out how. I'd say it's easily over twice the size of B'ham now and 5 times the size of Huntsville and Mobile. I think they really screwed up when they voted down the proposed light rail transit system though. But it's a beautiful city. If their growth rate keeps going, Huntsville will be a suburb of Nashville before long.

It's been almost 3 months since Dave and Buster's opened in Hoover/Birmingham and nearly 5 months since in Huntsville, Mobile is still stuck with these great venues with lesser arcade games section and an awful prize counter. That's why I would rather stick to Chuck E Cheese (which recently got renovated, removing the robots in favor of a dance floor) until both Lazer Zone and Pete's Party Castle revamp their arcades and prizes.

Lazer Zone was first opened when Bel Air Mall had their arcade. For all 5 years, they haven't been improving their arcade and their prize counter. There are a few games that aren't working great and their prize wall isn't that great. There are nothing that you really want at the prize counter, there isn't that much. I tried getting one of the owners to being in more ticket games such as the coin pusher ones and others and have their prize counter filled up with many amazing items, all which they claim that were working on bringing more of them but still yet, they haven't done anything to prove.

Pete's Party Castle has been around for almost a decade and they don't even reach Chuck E Cheese's level. I mean, they have all the great games but there are a few of them that aren't working and their prize counter is filled with cheap items while the expensive ones are so very limited. They haven't even fixed some of the games.

Mobile still deserves a Dave and Buster's Main Event, Round One, and other entertainment venues like them. I loved going to the one that was in Bel Air Mall. I've been enjoying it until it closed down almost 4 years ago. I miss going there alot and I would go anything to make a difference to follow Player's Arcade/Cyberstation example. Player's Arcade/Cyberstation did a very good job at managing their games and prizes.

No offense to Game Over Retro Pub, Gamestation, and Engage Gaming... Those are really amazing gaming/arcade places that must go to but the fun in Mobile isn't the same without the arcade Bel Air Mall used to have back then. I rather stick to Margaritaville's Excape in Biloxi, MS, Eastern Shore Lanes in Spanish Fort, Arcade at OWA in Foley, and Fat Daddy's Arcade in Orange Beach, AL/Destin, FL.

Serious question. Why don't you open up a place? You seem incredibly passionate about arcades, have a great understanding of what makes a place good, and would keep it up to date. I would 100% support something you ran because I would know that you took pride and loved it. Tons of ways to get small business loans these days.
