Default moving to alabama

my family and i are moving to mobile next summer (2009)
my husband is just finishing his masters degree and his employer offered him a great job in mobile
he is currently in wisconsin and will be moving to mobile in november, then we will follow in the summer after our youngest graduates from high school here in maine.
i am wondering which areas are best and safest to live in
we have been looking in the daphne area.
are we on the right track and are there any other areas we should look at

The one thing you might want to consider is commuting distance. Daphne, Spanish Fort are great areas but if your DH is working near the airport (for example) that is a long commute.

If you know what area of town he will be working, it will help the good folks on this forum give you some ideas.
