Hello-

Can anyone recommend a good place to get my hair cut? We recently moved to Mobile, so was looking for advice or good/bad reviews of different places before randomly trying someplace.

Thanks!

My wife goes to Hairageous and really likes them there. It's at 1055 Hillcrest Road # C1.

Bunny's Inc. is a fine shop. It is located at the corner of Sage Ave. and Airport Blvd., set back in a small shopping center off Airport next to Burger King.

Hello!

I actually got a 3rd suggestion, to go to Posh Salon and I checked out their website, and I thought I'd try it since it's right around the corner from me (but really, Bunny's and Hairageous are close, too, so it was just a flip of the coin). I also thought that since it's a 'spa' it would be nicer/spa-like inside? Not so.

When I called to make an appt, the person I talked to made me hesitant to go there, so I brought in a picture of the kind of cut I was looking for (and I was prepared to turn around and leave if I had to).

Pros:
-The stylist ended up doing a good job with my cut, so in the end I was pleased.

Cons:
-Small working area: The salon has a really small dining room-sized area where there's 4 or 5 stations crammed into it - one wall is a glass window looking into the waiting area. It was kind of uncomfortable to be in such a small quarters with so many people (not only staff + customers, but a couple other friends(?) hanging out) gossiping with one another.
-Cleanliness: This room wasn't swept and at one point, my stylist dropped the comb that she was using on the ground and immediately picked it up and used it in my hair again. This disturbed me, as usually individual stations have an entire jar full of sterile combs that they can use, and if they drop one, they just get a clean one out to use. She also dumped a bunch of hair she'd cut off on me because she'd constantly move the apron around, since it wasn't wide enough to wrap around completely.

I can live with small, but I'd like to go somewhere that's a little more clean and professional next time. So, before my next haircut, I'll be driving to these other 2 suggested salons and I'll go inside and check them out, then I'll try one of these places next.

Anyway, no harm no foul, I took a chance and now on to the next one!

If you live in Midtown, Attitudes is great! They are not overpriced either. Spend about $90 to do cut and highlights (foil). There is even a song by a local comedian about it called "Midtown Girl" to the tune of "Uptown Girl"! In the song, "Midtown girls" supposedly go to Attitudes to get their hair done.

Thanks a bunch, DowntownDoll! I just pulled up their website and it looks like I can get my Aveda products there, too, so that would kill 2 birds with one stone.

The 2 guys who work there are the owners so have most experience. I go to Mary, who is really nice, good, but she just started cutting hair probably 2 years ago. She's very popular, though.

If Theodore isn't too far out of your way Sai's Salon is fantastic. Every time I go for a cut and highlights I have strangers ask me where I get my hair done. It's not a large salon, in fact she is the only stylist (she has a nail tech too), but it is very clean and I always notice the big 100% on her health inspection certificate. She's off Old Pascagoula and probably in the phone book.

Oh, and I also had a bad experience with Posh. My haircut was terrible.
