I just got back from a mini vacation to LA, I always make sure to visit Fairhope. It is still just as charming as ever. I wanted to go to out on the pier but it was mid day and it was HOT.

It will be hot in the middle of the day, but if you go at sunset, it is gorgeous.Last evening there was a nice breeze and we had a spectacular one. The pier is still the place to go but it has been very quiet the last couple of weeks. I think many people are out of town as school starts next week and they have to be back. The shops have also been quiet, so we'll see next week.

Don't forget about this neat golf community that is just North of the Loxley exit: Steelwood. It's really nice but expensive. My husband wants me to move there but I said no because we like the kids' school. It's a gated community and you must have contact with one of their real estate agents to even get in.

I was born and raised in Baldwin County. I moved for a shot time when I was younger, but moved back home. I think Baldwin County is a wonder place to live. You are close to Mobile, Pensacola, Ft. Walton, Destin and Panama City Beach. Fairhope is a nice town also and very pretty. Baldwin County has grown alot over the years. Pretty soon we will have everything here and not have to go to Mobile or Pensacola. If its the beach you want we have that also......We pretty much have it all.....

Come for a vacation and look around
The best way to get a feel for the area is to come for a visit. Gulf Shores and Orange Beach can get pretty crowded in the summer. But the rest of the year is calm. Living north of the beaches can give you the best of both worlds. You are close enough to enjoy the beaches and far enough away to enjoy a peaceful residential area.
There are several chambers of commerce in the area that can help you.

MOBILE, I left Mobile in 2003 and I have missed it ever since. Everytime I go back I want to stay. It is beautiful. The cities is seriously growing and home prices are steady. I left because I'm in the military. I'm going back whenI get out next year. Mobile is the fastest growing economy in America thanks to , EAD, Mobile Aerospace, Raytheon, Thyssen Krupp, the new Alabama Speedway, Fed-Ex. This growth is all happening right now while other large metros are falling off. Mobile is doing the opposite. Many businesses relocated here from Gulfport and New Orleans adding even more small business and jobs. There's even an Air Force Base 35-40mins away in Biloxi, Ms.

We have lived between Lillian and Elberta (2 small towns just across the border of the Florida Panhandle) for 12+ years. In fact we followed my Parents here, after they retired early and now all my siblings live here as well. We selected the location for its small town atmoshere, rural feel, abundance of waterways for recreation and the low cost of living, all of which we have made us happy here. Since we have been here there has been much development and with a 30 min drive one can see concerts have great shopping and ample dining options. We love it here!
I noticed in a earlier post you may be interested in property here and we currently have a beautiful waterfront home for sale (we moved 3 miles away). If you are interested please visit 9380MAPLESTREET.COM for more information.
I hope this helps with your decision.
