It's just part of life. You understand that there will be at least one hurricane per year that will probably knock your power out for 2-3 days and cause a few branches to get knocked off the trees. Many hurricanes hit the southeast each year, but of course they do not all hit Mobile. Usually Mobile will get the brunt of one (or two in a bad year), and will get a little bit of rain from the rest that hit other places in Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, or Texas. I never remember having to be evacuated. But I would suggest living North of I-10 (if in Mobile, should be okay in Eastern Shore - Daphne/Fairhope south of I-10). As for homeowner's insurance, I have no clue ...

Is Midtown north of I10? Do you live in Mobile or St. Louis?

Midtown is north of I-10. A google map would show everything. In general, midtown is west of 65, north of Government, south of Spring Hill, and east of Broad St.

Currently live in STL, but heart is in Mobile .

Thanks, that must be hard . You seem to know a lot about it, did you spend much time there? Do you plan to go back?I really can't wait to check it out. My friend's Dad used to live there (until Katrina wiped out his RV or Mobile Home) and she was just there this summer visiting a friend and said that it is awesome.

I also hear Knoxville is a great place to live, have you ever been there?

I am 28. I spent years 1-27 in Mobile .

I wouldn't know, but I have friends who love Knoxville and say it is a great place.

I hope you get to go back if that is your wish...leaving your heart somewhere isn't good!

Thanks, I so look forward to seeing it, I have looked at those pics and any others I can find.

I have 3 questions:
1. does anyone know if the Azalea Festival and Historic Home Tour are around the end of March?

2. what airport do you use?

3. do you have any idea how much a home (2 bedroom cottage type, if historic even better!) could be had for in Midtown?

Thanks

Just check out real estate websites. There is always something for every budget, i have found anyways. I have found several 3 bds in the midtown historic area between $130k-$170K. Not bad considering many other districts like that in other cities are much much higher.

Residents here typically use either Mobile or Pensacola airports. Sometimes one may fly out of Biloxi, but our local airports are quite often running better deals.
