Residents here typically use either Mobile or Pensacola airports. Sometimes one may fly out of Biloxi, but our local airports are quite often running better deals.
Pensacola often has good rates but Mobile's airport is awful 9 times out of 10. i can't believe that they get any business when you can often fly out of Pensacola or Gulfport for $100 less. me husband flies in from Milwaukee and Mobile has only been cheaper a couple of times. it's really a shame.

Wow Adventuregurl! So I'm not alone- I love moving around too and I'm 38. Florida, Georgia, now Alabama. (I see Texas in my future but I've been hearing so much about their sweltering summer heat).
I just picked Mobile out of the blue. Good luck on your move when it happens.

Thanks Enide2, I have lived in Toronto, Sedona AZ, Victoria BC and now back in Sedona for 2 years. I am getting the itch. I just spent time in Fairhope and 'saw' a small bit of Mobile, to be fair, not enough to judge it so I will look more next time I come back (hopefully in March).

The people in the south are so nice!

Next time be sure to check out places like midtown, springhill, downtown (ie Dauphin St.), as opposed to places like Prichard. If you could come during something like ArtWalk, which takes place downtown mainly on Dauphin St the second Friday of every month, that would be fun. We also have other stuff coming up like O.A.R. coming to the Saenger, and Beerfest just happened downtown.

AdvtureGrl - you said you went down Water St, Highway 165 through Pritchard, I-65 to Springhill, Springhill back to Downtown, and then rode a little down Government St ... correct? If so, you didn't particularly see the best that Mobile has to offer to someone (who isn't looking to live in a big old southern mansion or in the hood ). Next time, if you want, PM me and I can get a screen shot of a Google map and circle/highlight the areas where you should visit so that you can see all the streets you would need to take if printed out or looking at another map. Might make for a better visit.

Thanks, will do. I was with a friend who used to live in Mobile 20 years ago and she was deciding where we turned etc. I really do know that Pritchard was not the place to see . I was scared just driving by it on the freeway .

Adventuregurl,

It's a shame you were not here tonight. Fairhope had Art Walk, with galleries and stores open, Art Center having a neat exhibit, about 5 or more artists playing music in the streets, nice September breezes(little humidity), and a glorious full moon. One of our favorite bands(local kids, classical guitars, ect),ROMAN STREET,was playing and it was a wonderful night in Paradise. People dance in the streets to this band....and it's a ton of free fun! This would have been a great week to be here.

Hope you can come back and enjoy this great area.

Thanks, it sounds wonderful. We had artwalk here in Sedona but I didn't go, it's not really a walk, you have to drive or take a trolley .

Do you ever wish for anything you don't have in Fairhope? If you could add one thing you would like there, what would it be?

I plan to be back in March...couln't move before then anyhow, still waiting on my greencard....sigh...it's taking longer than I expected!

Fairhope is nice, but to be honest, Sedona is the most beautiful "city" I have ever visited. I used quotations around city for obvious reasons.

It is stunning there. The wife and I love American Indian "stuff" too, even if too commercialized.
