Tell me about Spanish Fort/Daphne
There is a good chance my husband and I will be moving to the Spanish Fort area this coming summer and I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on this area? Especially, which neighborhoods would be a good place to find a rental home? We have no children, so no worries about school districts. We would like to find a rental for $1500 or less per month. I have been checking things out online and Daphne seems to be a really nice area. I like to be near shopping/entertainment/good restaurants, etc... but not right in the middle of it. I haven't been able to find much on Spanish Fort... is it a good area? We want to be in a lower crime area with good neighbors. Thanks for any info you can provide!

Both are good areas with low crime, but personally I would choose Spanish Fort over Daphne. I would look at the subdivisions that are on hwy 31 or hwy 225. Daphne has one main road (hwy 98) that runs through it and it stays congested. Most of the construction lately is in the area of Malbis, which I believe is now part of the city of Spanish Fort. There are so many new stores in Malbis now that you'd probably seldom find the need to go into Mobile.

Spanish Fort has no crime (figuratively speaking) ... and you can probably find a mansion for $1500 a month (we are talking about lower-Alabama rent prices here). You would probably like it on Spanish Fort Blvd. near 181. New outdoor "mall" right around the corner near Malbis. Also, you would be a 5 minute drive from Daphne and a straight 20-minute shot down I-10 from Mobile.

I have lived in Spanish Fort for just over 5 years and I love it. There is a lot of new development right now but it still has a small town atmosphere. We have two huge malls on either exit entering Spanish Fort off of I-10. My parents live in Daphne and though the value of rent/own is usually less in Daphne, I prefer Spanish Fort. Both have low crime and are great places to live.

Yes, I own a condo there that I rent out.
One of my previous renters worked at Bass Pro, in fact.
It is an older complex, but I LOVE the location. I find it to be very safe and convenient. It's nice to be able to look out over the water, but being high enough up that there's zero worry about flooding. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Spanish Fort
YOu will want to live in Spanish Fort. Really nice w/great schools. I lived in Miami and you will love it up here. Florida atmosphere, cheaper, new shoppings and great beaches.

I had stayed at Sea Cliff North for couple of months. Buildings are old but its location is great. Managing staffs are probably one of the best I have experienced. I enjoyed living there.
