Teenager in Mobile?!
We have a possible move to the Mobile area. We have been living in London for 3 years with lots of exciting activities for teenagers. I realize that Mobile can not compete with London but is there anyway to live close to Mobile for the activities, but still have a decent HS and house? I have been reading the posts about the quiet, retirement areas and I think this would be too hard for us. We are Southerners, though, and before London lived in Bossier City, LA. Help!!

I grew up in Mobile.Do not bring a teen here. There is nothing to do here but get in trouble.Cops here like to harass kids that have nothing to do.Schools are the worst.50% of all households make under 31K per year.Very poor.Your teen would probably run away if you moved here(or will be planning it).If it were me I would stay away from the southeast and look more east coast or southwest.

Well, that is honest. I was afraid that I would hear this.
I appreciate your candor, none the less---

My twins are 24 now, but I understand about teens. They seem to think there's nothing to do no matter where they are! London to Mobile...you're in for major culture shock. At least you lived in Bossier City, La., so you know something about that part of the country. Mobile is a little livelier than Bossier City, but not much.

I live in Mobile and I don't think your kid is gonna like it here.
This isn't a very safe part of the country to live in either and there is a lot of crime and gangs

My son is in college there. We are from TN. and he does not like Mobile at all. His degree is the ONLY reason he is down there. I personally would not take my teenager to Mobile to live based on the last years experience there.
