Default looking for a place where I can...

I am some what new to the mobile AL area, I am from the jackson MS area and I move here about a year ago. I know that mobile has a few bays and harbors that do a fair amount of trade. I am looking for a spot where I can go and watch big ocean going vessels come in and out of the harbors or ports. I have seen a few of these vessels, but the problem is that I am always driving over a bridge. I would like to find a spot to where I can go and park, or just sit. If anyone knows a spot, please let me know.

You might could check along State Docks Road off of Beauregard Street, near downtown.

Cooper Riverside Park is at the foot of Government Street/Water Street, just to the right of Outlaw Convention Center. It is right on the Mobile Riverfront! You can actually park there if you go south on Royal Street, you'll see a street to your left after you pass the reproduction Fort Conde'.

On Thursdays and Mondays around 4:40 - 5 pm ,you can wave good bye to the Carnival Cruise ship!!

And you'll see the big ships coming in to the Alabama port.

You can also park for free at the parking lot across from Fort Conde and visit some museums, like Exploreum, Museum of Mobile, and the museum in Fort Conde' before strolling down Government, crossing Water Street (carefully!) and walking into the Cooper Riverside Park!
