How hot?
I'm looking to visit Mobile next year over my summer break. I am a college student who has spent his whole life in Pennsylvania(Seriously I've never been out of the tri state area) and am now trying to see the rest of the country.
My dad was stationed in either Alabama or Lousiana when he was in the Air Force and says it is ridiculously hot down there.
For any Northerners who have either visited the area or live there.
What should I expect?

The humidity is what will get you down here...not the heat. Most northerners find it hard to breathe in our very humid climate.

"ridiculously hot "
That sums it up pretty well. And the humidity , too. I've lived here all my life. This area has many good qualities . The climate is just not one of them.

If you go in July or August, it is hot and humid. Temp highs are in the mid 90s to the 100s. Go to Gulf Shores where at least you have the gulf for swimming and more of a breeze.

Unless you're going to be outside doing hard physical labor all day I don't thinks it's anything to worry about. I mow my lawn and use my weed-eater right in the middle of the day and I'm still alive. I also had some friends of mine come down from Ohio last summer and they didn't seem bothered by it.

I'm pretty good in dealign with weather extremes. When I visit places I like walking around fairly aimlessly all day so it may be a bit of a problem come mid day.

It gets hot down here but not life threatening. I would say this though August is the hottest month of the year and if the temp is like 93 dergees with 100 % humidity the heat index will be125 or 120 dergees. Meaning it`s 93 but with the huidity it feels 125 ! From living and spending time in northern Alabama and other states up north there is a big diffrence between dry and humid heat and humid being by far the worse.

Anything like Houston?
How would you compare Mobile's summers to those of Houston? I thought Houston in June was unbearable - so humid, you could cut the air with a knife.
