Gulf Shores-Orange Beach
Will this area have the tallest, greatest, and longest skyline in Alabama? Coming down 59 over Intracoastal Waterway, this area looks like Miami.

I believe they do have as of now by far the longest and greatest skyline in Alabama but I could never see them with the tallest. Mobile has that title as right now. lol

I don't really see the Gulf condos as providing the "greatest" skyline - box after box after box for miles and miles and miles - on the prettiest beach in the world.
I'm not complaining too much since I've stayed in many of those boxes, but I wish the State and the cities of Gulf Shores / Orange Beach could've preserved more public beach views / access.

I miss the days when Orange Beach had a small town feel to it, back when the private beach cottages outnumbered the concrete condos, and there wasn't a Surf Style every mile. At least Dauphin Island has tried to maintain that way of life, for now. Just a few days ago I was having a conversation with someone who was saying "there's nothing in Dauphin Island to see", I said "sure there is, there's the beach, parks, the bird sanctuary, you know, NATURE" . I just don't understand why some people would rather see everything paved over.

snl - natural and cultural heritage is why I've been going to Fort Morgan more often (started out at Gulf Shores then migrated to Orange Beach). Or maybe I'm getting older and don't go to the bars as much anymore. I like the Bon Secour area and the Fort. I like Dauphin Island for the same reasons (Audubon and Fort Gaines), but I do need a Walmart nearby
Mar, Arena, Sol: que MAS quieres.

No offense, and we all know I absolutely love Alabama, but Alabama has no real skylines.

B-ham isn`t that bad and to be honest with you i don`t know the last time you were in Mobile, but Mobile`s skyline has improved over the past 4 yrs. Coming from I-165 and going through the Wallace tunnel Mobile skyline looks gooooood !!!! Mobile skyline is bigger than Jacksonville,Orlando,Memphis,Baltimore, St. Louis and several other cities that are bigger than Mobile Very close in size to cities such asille Birmginham,Nashville, and Tampa.

Uh, what?
Only moved away from Mobile a year ago. Don't get me wrong, I love Mobile's "skyline" with the new tower. It's awesome. It's easily one of my favorites, especially when looking at from Dauphin St. and Beinville Square. But comparitavely speaking, it is still not anywhere near a major skyline, or even a mid-major skyline like the cities you listed.
And while I have never been to Orlando or Baltimore - what in the world are you talking about with the rest of the cities? St. Louis, Memphis, and Jacksonville skylines drown Mobile when speaking of size and depth. Maybe not beauty, but definitely in size and depth. Not that those cities (STL, Memphis, and Jacksonville) even have big skylines when compared to other major cities (I consider them mid-major), but their skylines are much bigger than Mobile.
With that being said, Mobile's skyline is still my favorite. But don't flat-out mislead people into thinking it is a mid-major one or anything on the likes of the cities listed above.
No offense. I know you are a good poster on this forum, but still .
Here is St. Louis and Mobile back to back.

I understand where you are coming from as well but that pic is from the Mobile river which is a north east angle. east and west angles only capture parts of the skyline. Angles from The I-165 (North angle) and I-10 (south angle) it is a lot larger than that and to be honest it`s in the same ball field with St.Louis according to the pic you are showing me above. That angle shows 3 buildings and it is not up to date and you and I both know that there are a lot more than 3 buildings that make up the Mobile skyline !! When exiting from the I-10 ramp on the Water street exit Mobile skyline is bigger than that pic you have and especialy approching DT from I-165 !!!
