Mobile area
I am interested in learning more about the Mobile area. Not Mobile itself but the surrounding communities, preferably modest, middle-class neighborhoods where a youngish retired couple could live or at least spend the winter. Thanks.

Mobile area towns
I have done a little more research on the Mobile area, I think I may be interested in Satsuma or Saraland, possibly Creola. Can someone tell me more about these areas? I'm looking for a quiet, low crime area but with plenty of restaurants and interesting (inexpensive) things to do.

Hey, come on down to Spanish Fort, AL. We just moved here and we are exactly like you - just turned 50 and we love it here. Love the weather and the people. If you have kids, the Eastern Shore has better schools. Lots of kids in Mobile are homeschooled. More fun over here. Lots going on - free stuff. You really must be here during Mardi Gras! The people in Mobile and here on the Eastern Shore really have a terrific time!

We'll be headed that way sometime in the next couple of months to scope it out. What is the approximate rent for a 1-BR apartment in a decent area?

The Spanish Fort, Fairhope and surrounding area is the place you want to be..Very laid back life style and a wonderful community. There are a lot of little towns all around this area. I think once you visit you won't want to leave.
