My wife and I will be relocating from Boston this summer, and will be in the fortunate position of living rent-free at my in-laws' condo in Orange Beach for as long as it takes for me to find a job (wife already has one lined up) and for us to save up for a downpayment (saving anything has become a non-option with our current Boston housing and living expenses being what they are, on top of gargantuan student loans) .

The condo is totally furnished, so we will need somewhere to store our stuff. We are coming from a tiny house, so all we have is a queen bed, a couple sofas, dining table, chairs, grille, flat-panel TV, armoir, etc. We are selling whetever we don't need, so it will be a small amount of stuff for a typical childless couple.

Anyone know (a) if there are plentiful storage rental places in Mobile or Baldwin County? we plan on eventually buying a home on the eastern shore, but could store the stuff on either side of the bay. And, (b) what are the approximate rates for storage down there on a monthly basis?

Thanks in advance.

closet sized from $30 to $50 non a/c to 45 to 65 with a/c. Room sized storage (say 10X10) from $50 to $80 non a/c to $80 to $150 with a/c. If you want security and a/c, you'll pay most for those. And so you know, storage units ARE NOT being hurt by the recession... they are actually doing very well as you can expect to have little room for negotiating a lower price.
