Question From Birmingham to Foley!

Hello All!

My family and I are planning to relocate to Foley, AL in about 6months. I've been doing general research online but looking to learn more. I've been there once and was impressed with the 'small town feel'. I am a teacher (1-6) and recent homeschool parent. My hub is a CDL driver. Obviously getting a job is at the top of our list following finding a rent/rent to own property available.

Any suggestions, feedback, etc.?

You can check out Foley, Summerdale, Robertsdale depending on what you are looking for in a place to live. The further away you are from the gulf the better your ins will be if you decide to buy. Foley is a nice little town but VERY busy during the summer especially on Fri and Sun/Mon traffic is really heavy with ppl going to the beach for the weekend. Summerdale is more rural and Robertsdale is a little further away but a nice little town.

I also like Silverhill but it is further away and is pretty small.

Take a look at www.charmont.net for some rental home options. It's located in Loxley about 15 miles north of Foley. This area would put you closer to I-10 with better acess for your employment options.

Just west of the Hospital due south (parallels 59) has really good home deals now. My aunt and uncle bought a 8 yr old home 3/2 home in early 2006 (post Katrina) for $265,000. It is now worth only $214,000. In their neighborhood (about a 4 block area) they have over 25 homes for sale, with one (a typical cookie cutter home) was $149,000 and is now $97,000 and still on the market. Baldwin County is severely overbuilt and if your looking for housing, to heck with new construction... you can find a steal on a good home there.
