I do wonder if Publix has made such a large move into a metro area like this before?

Here are the locations eyed:

Corner of Canal and Broad St, Satchel Paige Drive, Sage Avenue, Old Shell Rd (soon to be vacant Bruno's), Corner of Airport/University (soon to be vacant Bruno's), Corner of Cody Rd and Cottage Hill, Corner of Demotropolis and Halls Mill Rd (across from Lowes), and Saraland Loop (soon to be vacant Food World)
Do you know where I can find a copy of that email? Moderator cut: deleted

Awesome news! I LOVED Publix when I lived in FL. Right now my mom shops mainly at Fresh Market (and spends a fortune, ouch) so she'll be thrilled when Publix comes into Mobile. Is it definite yet?

Grand in Grand Bay is on a distinguished road
Corner of Demotropolis and Halls Mill Rd (across from Lowes)

I've been wondering if they already had plans for this area since they just cleared it all out. In the past couple of weeks they have cleared several acres of trees there as if they were getting ready for development of some sort. I was hoping for a Super Target.

I'd be surprised to see another Super Target. They seem to be way more cautious than Wal-Mart when it comes to overbuilding for an area, as well they should be,

From all Ive heard, that is what is going in over there with Publix, where if you to Florida, youll see in many areas that a Publix and Target or Super Target are in the very same shopping center. But I also have heard where if they build it, they will close the Bel-Air Mall location.

Hmm, you may be onto something there.

The Publix on Nine Mile Rd in Pensacola is indeed near a Target, although the Target has been there awhile already.

The Bel-Air Mall location is a good area. I know Fairhope is getting a Publix but I also saw a Publix coming soon sign in Daphne today.
