I would like to know where on Broad St. they are possibly planning a strip mall. Also, considering the vast differences of arears Broad connects to, it would be a very interesting study to observe the crowd a strip mall on Broad would attract. Would it be predominently the Dauphin/Government/Old Shell crowd, or would it be predominently the St. Stephens/South of Texas St. crowd? Or an awkward mix of both?

MIMP: Yes its an LA thing my man.
OSCOTTSCOTTO: I read that a grocery store was planed on that strip of land thats across the street from Bishop State.Where the little cranival rides during Mardi Gra are usually set up so I assume it would be that area.

I like Publix. Their prices are not always the best but they are the cleaniest nicest grocery stores. Good for Mobile.

Publix Markets is coming into Alabama, according to the 5:00 news they are planning to build two stores in Dothan. I have never shopped their, are they expensive compared to say Wal-Mart.
I do look forward to having a much better selection of fresh veggies. I'm from Oregon ,gosh do I miss shopping out there.

Yes, Publix is more expensive than Wal-Mart, but the quality there is much better. However, you will not find the quality of produce anywhere better than Oregon. Oregon's cool climate is so much better than the South's for growing fruits and vegetables. Except for certain items such as peanuts and peaches. I suggest you go to local farmers' markets for higher-quality vegetables.

You also have to look at prices of sale items. Wal Mart seems to be less expensive, but they do no have sales per se, so in the long run, if you shop wisely, you can do just as well in Publix combined with others. I found eggs at Publix a few days ago to be 30 cents less than WM.
We have no store in south Alabama that compares with stores in the Pacific coast where fruits and veggies are just amazing. Publix has a larger selection of produce than others. Just bought sockeye salmon that was fresh and wonderful, but out west is a very common thing. We do not get beautiful exotic mushrooms, and I wish we did...but hey, Publix is still better than most.
